Liverpool V South Dublin - June 2011

The annual Dublin South vs. Liverpool match for the Cantor-Dowling Shield was held in the Deva Bridge Club, Chester, England on the weekend of May 28/29, and for the third year in a row Dublin South emerged victorious - by a margin of over 100 VPs (959 to 831) - thus retaining the Shield, and narrowing Liverpool's overall lead in the fixture to just one (8 wins for them, 7 for us). "Thank You, Partner"

Congratulation to Séamus Dowling on the launch of his book on the history of Bridge in Ireland, 'Thank You Partner'. The launch was attended by a huge number of people and was a veritable who's who of Irish Bridge.
There were three speakers during the course of the evening: Mr. Sean O'Keeffe (Liberties Press), Mr. Michael O'Connor (Vice-President, CBAI) and of course Mr. D. In his speech Séamus thanked the many contributors and sources, most notably perhaps, Ms. Ruth Giddings, the most capped player in the history of Irish Bridge.
The book is available for purchase from the CBAI and from selected bookstores.
